Crusty Review: Oakland Pizzoria

Oakland Trattoria

It's the annual Valentine's Day Pizza Review!

We've eaten here before and it was very good, but never come for a pie. The bread you get before the meal is actually the best part. You get as much as you want, but we held off and ate just one basket. It comes with an olive oil mix that is oh-so-good. We got the build your own pizza with pepperoni (of course!), sausage, olives, basil and garlic. It's a wood fired pizza and was very good! And being from the WaterStreetBrewery family of resaurants, the beer was excellent. But it wasn't the best 'za we've ever eaten, do it gets only a rating of:

Crusty Review: Chinese Sundae

HopSheng Gourmet

Tried a new Chinese place on Sunday, located on Murray Street where Golden Chicken. The place is incredibly small, not much bigger than our kitchen. Very casual! In fact, it seemed like everyone there besides us knew the owners! We tried the Chicken Fried Rice (I wasn't very hungry) and the Singapore Rice Noodles. The servings were HUGE, if we had decided on the same thing, we could have easily split it. The Singapore Rice Noodles were very good, spicy but not too spicy... and the Fried Rice was... well, fried rice. Kinda hard to screw that up. The little touches were nice though, like a small vegetable place of pickled veggies before dinner, and a small dessert and fortune cookie after dinner. Very Tasty! Would definitely go back, although they didn't have any booze at the time of this writing, which unfortunately gives it only a rating of:

New! Crusty Reviews! (The Palomino)

The Palamino

Excellent! If you want really good bar food in a good bar atmosphere than look no further than Bay View, Milwaukee. Tried the chicken sandwich and the Po-boy, both were tasty. The best thing about the menu is you get a choice of two sides, some greasy.. some extra greasy. I was in a tater mood, so I opted for the tater tots and french fries. Fried pickles were also on the menu. Despite a large amount of smokers the bar must've had a good filter system, 'cuz we didn't reek when we left. And as you will soon see, to get a top Crusty rating, the beer selection has to be good, and the Palomino didn't dissapoint! Enjoy!
