Ja mowié słabo po Polsku!

Polish classes start anew today. Don't know how well this will go... I
haven't studied a whole lot since the last class and whenever I do
study, it seems to slip right out of my head after I finish. Hopefully
there will be others at my skill level.

Logo-rific!

Well, looks like there's no stopping it. Although one could say I had a hand in its creation in a way, I should be minorly proud. I am really curious how outsiders will perceive the new logo. I think most people will wonder why we have skeletal bird thing as a logo. But maybe it's just me. Don't get me wrong, it looks nice, and it would be a welcoming thing to have Milwaukee using a unified mark. Milwaukee will always be beer and brats to me though... and that doesn't mean we're uncultured or unrefined. We don't drink just any beer or eat any brat after all!

Crusty Stuff

Hey! While you're here, why don't you buy some stuff!

The New Milwaukee

So a group is trying to push a new logo to promote Milwaukee.

I say, "eh."

The Milwaukee Visitors Bureau has jumped on the bandwagon also, incorporating the design into their logo also (dropping "Genuine American").

I'm not sure how I feel about the city putting all it eggs into the same Calatrava basket. While I recognize the architectural significance of the art museum, I don't feel it symbolizes the city. At least, not yet. Only time will tell if the art museum becomes an iconic landmark of the city or a symbol forced on a city that's still beer and brats at it's roots, whether people like it or not.

Naval Lint

I can't believe they are still trying to get this beast onto the lakefront. While I respect historic vessels and love visiting them, I don't think it's needs to be parked outside the art museum. I think the supporters are way too glassy-eyed about the possibility of plopping this boat here to see that it won't in the long run be a benefit. I mean look at this thing!

That's a car parked by it! Holy shmoly! What a huge freakin' eyesore on our beautiful lake park! You know, most cities don't park these things right on their largest downtown parks. I'm sure there has to be somewhere else they can put it. How about down by the ferry? I'm sure people from Muskegon would love to see it.

Post Spam

Well, Spam-a-lot was excellent. I'm not one for musicals really, but this was genuinely just plain fun. I honestly can't say if a non-Monty Python fan would feel the same way. Tim Curry was excellent as was Hank Azaria. He had John Cleese's characters perfect. Niles (I forgot the actor's name!) was good, he just didn't have the stage presence the others did. The Lady of the Lake was excellent! She stole the stage many times. I highly recommend it.

Also recommend the Russian Tea Time restaurant, it's right near the Shubert Theater. Excellent food and dessert, and if you're not driving be sure to have one of their excellent vodkas! (free if you make reservations online!)
