GABF: Boulder, CO

If you like food and shopping, then this is the place to visit for you! We had a short amount of time to visit here, but it was fun! Lots of interesting shops, restaurants and other things to keep us entertained in a great downtown atmosphere.

Denver GABF: Mountain Sun

Mountain Sun Brewery
Finally, on the last day of the trip we went up to Boulder and had lunch at Mountain Sun Brewery. Again, an excellent place! Unfortunate I don't remember the type of beer I had, but I did have a delicious catfish sandwich. The atmosphere was great as well. Great place to fuel up to walk around Boulder, which we highly recommend!

Denver GABF: Phantom Canyon

Phantom Canyon Brewery
Swung down to Colorado Springs for Phantom Canyon Brewery the second day before we headed up to Pike's Peak. This was a great place. The food and beer well so well together, I believe they actually made recommendations on which beers go with which brews. Service was great too. Ironically, I believe I had a Railyard Ale here too!

Denver GABF: Wynkoop Brewery

Wynkoop Brewery
Stopped Wynkoop Brewery for lunch the day of the fest. Excellent food and beer. I believe I had the Railyard Ale and a burger. I don't remember what the others had, but all was good. Nice decor and atmosphere too, even though it was a bit busy and "chain-ish".

Recovery from GABF!

Well... it's been a while, but now that I've finally recovered from the Great American Beer Festival, I can finally talk about it... It was a lot of fun, a lot of great people there. Most people we met were there for multiple nights, which I highly reccommend if you really want to sample the entire US. We mostly stuck to the West Coast and East Coast, trying some in the South, Midwest and Central. We definately hit our beer limit about 2/3rds of the way through the night, but we tasted some good stuff. I liked a Jasmine beer, while the others like a Smoked. We had to stop by the locals of course, Lakefront and Capital. It's definately a "pace yourself carefully" event! I started on IPAs, which wasn't the best idea since there were so many of them, I was forced to switch to water and lagers for a while. Would love to go back someday!

Food & Froth 2006

Went to the Milwaukee Public Museum's Food & Froth fundraiser again this February. I think it will be the last one. It is being run just horribly now. It was WAY too crowded for one thing, not relaxing at all. The last time we went they had it nice and organized, people started out on different floors so not to overwhelm everything at once. Not this time. There we restaurants missing, in the wrong places and mostly hard to find! There was a listing in the pamphlet (with errors) but they were not on the map, so you really didn't know where they were and just found the randomly. Seemed to be a lot less meal-type places too. One of the dumb ones was putting Usinger's right in the middle of a high traffic area. Pretty dumb. The highlight was stopping by the Goose Island table and tasting some of their special Reserve beers. They had some Lambics that were delicious! Highly recommend them!

St. Louis

Made a trip to St. Louis for the annual April 1st trip this year. We were supposed to rent a MINI for the trip, but the place in Chicago apparently didn't have any. ARG! Anyways the trip was fun.

We stopped at CozyDog's (five crusties) on the way down, very cool and very tasty! Went to the Arch and other things around town. The food ended up being the best thing, these were our fav's:

Great Taste of the Midwest
